Whistleblower advocates Zena Crenshaw-Logal and Andrew D. Jackson are co-authors of a new stage play, The Keys, a Theater for Justice production. The play will make its debut tonight in Hyattsville, MD, at Busboys and Poets. A second presentation is scheduled for Sunday, December 14, at the Busboy’s in Washington, DC. Dinner is available prior to the performance.
The play’s central character, Gloria West, is a successful car salesperson who experiences an abrupt reversal of fortune.
Virtually overnight, Gloria went from being Sam’s most valuable employee to an unbearable economic drain — that is according to Sam’s envious nephew, recent MBA recipient Lawrence Anderson. His contagious age discrimination infected Sam, and in November 2008 Sam laid Gloria off from work indefinitely.
In telling Gloria’s story, the play addresses a wide swath of issues….”economic hardship, employment discrimination, patronage, disloyalty, homelessness, class conflict, morality, gender issues, breast cancer” and death, according to the group’s website. Sarah Roche is the director and production manager.
